Gotham is back after a lengthy hiatus. “Beasts of Prey” wasn’t the best of episodes, but it did advance many plot points that needed to be advanced, specifically Fish Mooney’s island adventures.
This week we see several characters that are familiar to the Batman-verse. But, besides all the character introductions/tie-ins/appearances, the story this week was a fun and engaging one.
Last week, Gotham ramped up the action by finally paying off some of the long standing plot lines, but the fallout turns predictably bland.
Gotham continues to waffle between a gritty cop procedural and an over-the-top origin story. This week, Gordan and Harvey persue a a serial killer who is targeting the children of the rich.
Episode two, entitled “Selina Kyle,” will hopefully shed some light on the elusive and mysterious “cat” that was lurking in the shadows in the pilot. For the most part, Gotham seems to find more of its voice and tone in this episode, but it still has a ways to go to really hit its stride. […]
